Role Description

As an Engagement Manager, you will overall be responsible for the smooth and consistent execution of our software auditing consulting engagements. In these audits, our auditors act as consultants on behalf of our clients. You will serve as an additional layer of quality assurance for our audits, as well as a crucial liaison between our management team, our clients, and our auditors.

This role requires technical skills beyond simple coordination and administrative work. As you grow into the role, you’ll be expected to take on more advanced responsibilities that require an in-depth understanding of audits from both a business and technical perspective.

Basic responsibilities:

  • Executing our engagement set-up and close-down processes
  • Maintaining accurate records of all of our engagements
  • Ensuring continuous communication between clients and our auditors during audits and reminding our auditors to follow up in a timely fashion
  • Setting up calls between clients and our auditors
  • Answering common questions from clients with “cookie-cutter” answers

More advanced responsibilities:

  • Understanding the issues we find in clients’ software and reviewing the fixes we propose for them to make sure they make sense
  • Planning projects and audits (”we should spend X days on component A, and Y days on component B, …”), making sure timelines and deadlines are being followed
    • Making sure auditors spend time looking at the right parts of the codebase
  • Scheduling engagements, understanding individual auditors’ strengths and weaknesses
    • Coordinate with our sales team on our audit availability and calendar.
  • Answering complex questions from clients based on contextual information, experience, and your judgment
    • Solving complex client success situations. For example, if a client needs to reschedule last-minute, you’ll need to play Tetris with our bookings to keep our schedule on track.
  • Aiding our management team and founders in making strategic decisions and organization and process design decisions

Success in this role looks like:

  • Timely responses to client and internal updates
  • Your audits start and finish on-time, with thorough coverage of code
  • Our auditors love working with you and trust you as a champion for their needs
  • Our clients love working with you and trust you to ensure things are done the way they want

Qualifications and Considerations

  • Experience with software auditing, AppSec, and/or general computer science
  • Good people skills
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Organized and gets things done
  • The role is well-defined, with a pre-established, streamlined process and set of supporting tools. We’re looking for candidates who can hit the ground running and have an immediate impact on our business. The machine is ready for you to go; you just need to hop in and drive.

Growth Opportunities

High-quality candidates will become a key liaison that sits at the center of our core business. This is a critical role within the company. All of this rests upon your ability to balance competing interests and constraints, while ensuring all stakeholders are satisfied—both our team and our clients.
